The Roof Goes On

Jeff and the guys have been working really hard on the market. I wish I could get up there with the camera quicker but they are working so fast that it's hard to keep up with them. My dad and Nanny (his poodle) came up today to check out everything. Daddy has a habit of telling people how much better things could have been done (his way) but today he restrained himself haha. I think he was actually impressed and offered help when they get to the work on the inside. I am sure that we will be calling him.
This is the front of the market. As you can see one of the guys has struck a "pose" for the picture. This would be Anthony who has been in other pictures that I have taken. I think I mentioned that in the other photos others were working while he looked on-not alot has changed in that area.

A closer shot of the front of the market. Again Anthony is "supervising" from below. Actually he was throwing the wood up that they needed. Before this picture was taken the edges of the roof were not even and Carlos was on the roof cutting the edges. Anthony was standing on the porch doing something with the wood and the piece of plywood that Carlos cut fell onto Anthony's head. He was fine but I know that had to be painful. And of course Carlos thought it was funny. There's never a dull moment with these guys around.

This is a picture of the right side of the market. The window that's framed out is where the kitchen is going to be. All the room in the top for now is not going to be finished. At a later time we may finish it but for now Jeff is going to make sure there is floor in there and we will have it for storage space.

This is the back area of the market where we are either going to put a walk in cooler with a door going into the market or it will be where we park the refrigeration truck. We are still checking into the costs of each to see which one would work best for our needs and our budget. If we go the route of a walk in cooler then there will be enough room for us to pull the tractor and a few smaller pieces of equipment under there.

This is the view from directly behind the market. You can see the uneven edges of the plywood on the roof. This what Carlos was cutting when the wood hit Anthony in the head. It wasn't a very big piece but still held quite a wallop when it fell. You can also see how close some of the branches of the old pecan tree are to the roof of the shed part. I have been researching the proper way and time to prune and old tree. I don't want to do it wrong and hurt the tree.

View of the left side of the market. The huge opening you see is the big door that we will use to bring in produce. I am thinking that huge double wooden doors much like the ones seen on barns would look good. But I'm not sure if they would provide the security and the weatherproofing that we need. Again you see Anthony standing. I think he is going to be like the where's Waldo thing of this blog. Maybe I'll call it Where's Anthony Standing Now?

This is Jeff on the roof trying to get at least one side of the roof finished before they stop working for for the day. Rain was in the forecast for the night so he was trying to get this side finished and the roof paper down on it before they left.

Just a plain goofy shot I took from inside the market. That would be Jeff again up on the roof.
