One Permit Down.....

I picked up the septic tank re-certification paper today!! Now our site plan will go before the county in a closed door meeting on Tuesday and if it gets ok'ed then we can start everything else on Wednesday.

I spent the day running the usual errands. One errand was to pick up a roll of greenhouse plastic. Our cat has climbed ours and pine cones have fallen on it which of course has punctured it. For all the seeds we are getting ready to start the plastic will have to be replaced. Jeff is going to have to run electricity out to it because he said we are going to need grow lights. And if we have another cold snap we will need to keep it warm in there to protect the seedlings. I think we have to keep it at least 40 degees in there. At least from what I have read that's what we need to do.

To get ready for the seeds I got in the greenhouse and pulled out all the trays and got them filled with the growing medium. They are all laid out and ready for the seeds tomorrow. Jeff has given me the list of some seeds to pick up tomorrow. I will be busy tomorrow seeding cabbage and lettuce. I am also buying spinach, turnips, and mustard seeds but those we will direct sow into the field. I love this part except when the seeds are so tiny that I have to use a pair of tweezers to place them in the trays. I am hoping that I can get them all done before the weekend.

This weekend there is an auction at a farm that we are going to. Apparently there is a lot of items because they are going to start selling at 10 am with the farm equipment using 2 separate auctioneers then they will move onto the rest of the farm and house. Jeff is hoping to find some deals on equipment and I am hoping to find some deals on items to decorate the market with or possibly use in the kitchen. Even if we don't come home with anything it will be a nice way to spend the day and check out another farm in the process.

That's all I have to report today except that I am torn as to what to do about our cat who climbs the greenhouse. I am sure that she will want to climb the new one as well and the plastic for it isn't cheap! I have tried spanking, squirting with water, making loud noises, and nothing works. This is the MOST stubborn cat I have ever known or owned. Maybe I will just have to put the cat in the house while I work in the greenhouse. She doesn't seem to bother it unless I'm inside of it. I'll sleep on it and see what I come up with tomorrow.
