After the CSA and permit meeting, I went to see my Aunt Cathy who owns a sign company (we are so lucky). Jeff had drawn out a picture of the logo we were looking for which is a view of our farm here at the house as if looking at from the highway. I thought it was great because it had the barns, an old truck, strawberries, corn, and blueberries in the picture. Aunt Cathy looked at it and the expression on her face was oh no. There is a lot of detail in the picture and that may be a problem with clarity. She said if there is a lot of detail in the logo then it won't be clear. I guess that old saying less is more is true. I am actually going to try to help her with the things she needs for it.
What she does if she doesn't have a clip art of exactly what we want-then she gets several clip arts with pieces of what we want and then she will merge them into one photo and tweek it to what we want. She said she gets alot of her clip art from coloring books. There's more a wide range of images on those sites versus clip art sites which have a tendency to have the same things. She gave me a website to try (kidscoloringpages) and see if I could any full or partial images of what I wanted in the sign. If I did find them then I can just email her the link. Finding all the clip art for the images is what takes so long so everything I can do to speed it up is going to be helpful. She can also do the magnetic signs for our trucks and the tee-shirts for us. In the Spring we will wear red shirts that have Karefree Produce on the front and the outline of a strawberry in white on the back. In the summer, we will have the same red shirt except we will change the strawberry to a tomato. For the fall we are going to get either black or orange tee shirts with the outline of a pumpkin on the back. She said she could even put our logo on the tee shirts but we decided against that. It would add to the cost and the shirts are probably going to get ruined on a regular basis so it didn't make sense. I had thought about getting Robin her own tee shirts in yellow with the picture of a honey bee on the back since she is going to be our bee lady.
She will also be able to take the image of the finished logo and send it to me in a file that I can use for the business cards etc. After leaving her shop, I came up with the idea for our mailbox at the market. I have seen signs in yards with the family last name at the top and hanging underneath was each persons name. I had spoke to her about something along those lines but with the words Karefree Produce hanging side by side but that wasn't going to work. But if we do it horizontally I think it may work. I will email Cathy about in the morning.
So I guess for the next several nights I will be scouring coloring pages/books websites for pieces of the logo.
