The Market

The week before the wind storm Jeff and some of the guys that he works with had gone to the farm and dug out the footing for the market. Again the weather was not on our side. We had about 2 inches of rain in 24 hours that collapsed about 80% of the footing. So Jeff and I spent the weekend digging it all out again for a second time. We got the re bar down and everything set up and ready for the inspection. Jeff called the inspection office on Monday trying to get it inspected that day so we could get the concrete poured. We were expecting more rain on Tuesday so we were trying to get as much accomplished before the rain hit. He was told that inspections are not done the same day and that they need 24 hours notice. So he asked if they had a busy day or if they were fully booked with inspections. the lady told him they didn't have any inspections on the books for the day but that they still wouldn't be there until Tuesday. Now that really doesn't make any sense to me. I guess that's our tax dollars at work for us.

On Tuesday we got the inspection done and the concrete put down. The block guy came on Wednesday and finally finished up Thursday. The power company and hooked up the power to the temporary pole on Tuesday too. We are slowly coming along.

On Tuesday I had gone to the farm and cleared off the left side of the driveway. There was some overgrown brush on each side that was blocking the view of traffic when we would pull out into the highway. It looked so much better when I got done. We have some packets of wild flower seeds that we gotten on our honeymoon that I am going to plant in this area. I still have to do the left side of the driveway but I am going to need Jeff's help with that. He won't show me how to use the chain saw and some of those things growing just can't be cut with my loppers.

I am hoping to get the crepe myrtles dug up and transplanted to the farm this week. I am wanting to alternate those with the yellow bells from mom's. The crepe myrtles are white and will bloom after the yellow bells. I am thinking that would like nice along the fence by the gate. Hopefully that will be something to help draw the eye up to the property from the highway.
