The Farm at Home

I realized in my blogging I mention that we have farm land here at the house that we will be planting on. But I have not posted any pictures of that area of the business. So here are just a couple that I have gotten so far and will post more later on.
This is one of the fields as you come down the driveway. This one is on the left and next to what we call papa's pond. This pond is what we use for irrigation. A couple of years ago we planted this field in pumpkins and gourds. As most of you know if you leave any out there to rot you will have plants again the next year. We had several gourd plants and one lonely pumpkin plant come back up this past fall. The nieces loved it!! This field is also full of bermuda grass which is a royal pain to try to kill or live with. Jeff keeps plowing in hopes of trying to kill it or keep it at bay a little.

Another shot of the same field from a different view. The one shed off at the far end of the field is what we call the tractor shed. It holds the old tractor that used to be Jeff's papa's (I think) and the new one which is at the new farm land right now. Those other things in the picture are bulk barns that papa had when he was growing tobacco. Right now they are used mainly for storage and for snakes to live under. Behind them is the 11 acre field where most of the planting will take place. One area has been designated for our house whenever we get around to building it.
