Progress on the Market

I will apologize for the delay on updating. Things have been really busy around here. It is getting down to the wire where 100 things are done in a day.
As you can see the windows are in and in this picture the guys are putting the front door in. It was quite a tight fit. The guy on the right is my younger brother Johnny who has been helping Jeff with the market in the evenings when they both get off work. The other door is going on the side of the building where we will be loading and unloading produce.

Jeff and the guys trying to get the door in. They finally got it in there. woohoo!! And just as a note fire codes dictate that a door has to open outwards or either swing both ways. We opted for one that will open out. I am still trying to figure out how to ge a screen door there. I just think that is a nostalgic touch that would be nice. I think Jeff is under the impression that I am becoming obsessive about getting a screen door somewhere on this building. haha.
He chose a door that had the grids in between the panes of glass. I am so thankful for that as I will be the one cleaning the glass. Cleaning around those little grids is a real pain and somewhat time consuming. My only concern was all the glass. I love the look of it but it seems like it would alot easier for someone to break into.
The kitchen side of the building. The attic is almost finished. From this side window I will be able to see out into the strawberry field too.

The left side of the market. The guys were working on cutting the white paper lining to go on the uncovered part while I was snapping pictures. I should have taken a picture of it going up because Anthony was actually doing physical labor.

Pictures of the insides. The guys were still trying to get the door in at this point of picture snapping. The white bull dog is Dixie. This was her first trip to the farm. When I left the house she was determined to get into the truck with me so I decided she needed to see where we were going everyday. I took this picture standing in the large doorway on the left side of the market.

Just another photo from the huge side door. The door opeing to the left is where the restroom is going and the doorway to the right is to the kitchen. And the large opening next to the kitchen door is where we set up the register etc. We are going to have sliding shutters in there. And Dixie is standing in our very small office space. But really how much room do you need for a lap top and telephone?

Just a goof shot of the ceiling in the market. We spoke to the electrician who is going to put 2 ceiling fans in the market and then flourescent lighting surrounding them. I really am a huge ceiling fan person. I have to have air moving around. Plus I thought it might help on the cooling costs. We are also going to have 2 on the front porch-hopefully this make it a little more comfortable in the summer to sit in the rockign chairs. And on top of that it might help keep the bugs down.

The floor is your basic concrete floor. I had originally thought about staining it like you see on HGTV but that would have been a huge additional expense. I also figured it would get ruined with all the traffic and keeping it clean might a little more time consuming.
I think Jeff has done a great job and is a miracle worker in the amount he has free to actually work on getting it built. He works for about 3 hours everyday after work and then on the weekends he is there from sun up til sundown. He is the one who is going to truly need a vacation once it is finished. I am so fortunate to have a husband who knows how to do everything!!
