Thi is a phot of the 3 finished rows of onions. The covered row next to them has some strawberries, broccoli, and cabbage under it that we had planted in the fall. The brocoli that we have gotten off of it has been really good. The black plastic was a solid sheet and I had to take an old wooden tobacco stick and poke the holes in the plastic. We did 4 holes acros and then about a foot apart for the next 4.
To the right of the onion rows are 5 more covered rows. We are having rain for a couple of days but after it clears up I will be planting the sugar snap pea seeds in that area. During the wind storm that we had some of this plastic had came off a couple of those rows in the picture. Ricardo and Anthony did a really good job and getting those back in place. In between the rows Jeff got some rye grass seed and spread that out in there. This end of the field washes away really bad when it rains. So we are hoping that the grass will help keep this from happening.
This is just a picture of a couple of the onion sets. I was thinking that once a month I would take pictures of the growth progress.
Just another (crooked) shot of one of the onions.
